Collaborating Sleep Disorders Centers

Sleep Disorders Centers provide polysomnography testing for the diagnosis and treatment of over 100 recognized sleep-related disorders in children and adults. The Sleep Disorders Center, Tuscaloosa, is planning an Insomnia Clinic that will be staffed by full-time graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program at The University of Alabama. The Clinic will provide the following services: screening psychological assessments, in depth psychological evaluations, psychotherapy and insomnia treatment, CPAP desensitization therapy, and research consultation. The insomnia program emphasizes non-pharmacological treatment, relying mainly on cognitive-behavior therapy approaches, such as sleep hygiene, relaxation, stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep education, and restructuring of sleep-related beliefs.
